Hey There Hawghunters,
On April 6th 2013 we saw a great day for fishing. The Temps were good and we didn’t have to where 30 layers of clothes to stay warm! The Wind kicked up pretty good as the day went on which might have turned the bite on for some but not all. We had 28 boats set out searching for fish that are in their transition period which can make them tough to catch this time of year. Even with the warmer temps the Jerkbait still seemed to be the most common bait the fish were caught on. A few other guys got them on the Alabama rig and a spinnerbait to bring in the big bags!
Mike Smith and Art Kohlmann blew it out of the water with a 6 Fish limit that went 28.01 which included the big bass of the tournament that went 6.89#’s. That bag included another fish over 6 and one that went 5. Great Job! That is also a new club record for Heaviest 6 fish Bag!! Second Place of the tournament went to Rich Labarge and Keith Labarge who had 6 fish bag that weighed 23.61 #’s, with most taken on the Alabama Rig. Third place of the tournament went to Craig Russell and Chase Russell who had a 6 fish limit of 17.96 which included Chase’ first ever tournament keeper!! They said they caught their fish on a Jerkbait. Ryan Hohl and Dennis James take the fourth place spot followed up By Mark Weisheitt and Paul Knotten in 5th. Overall there were 40 fish weighed in for a total of 133.13 lbs and only three six fish limits.
Congrats to all the winners and Thanks for everyone who participated in the event. We hope to keep this streak of 20 plus boats throughout the season which will make for one hell of a classic!!
